Mrs. Gulshan Saeed, an ardent political worker of the Pakistan Muslim League and a social activist, began her career with PML in 1985 and rose through the party rank and file to become the Vice President of the Women Wing of the Party. She is highly educated and holds a Master Degree in English from the Punjab University. In the early 1990s she was involved in broad basing the Party through membership drivers. She organized party meetings and seminars at the grass roots level and worked in unison with print media to highlight the partys manifesto.

In 1994 she visited Saudi Arabia where she toured different cities to participate in Pakistan International Women Community Forum to highlight and find solutions to problems faced Muslim women and children living abroad. During 1994-96 she was in the fore front of Tahrik-e-Najat movement, leading processions, to oust the then Pakistan Peoples Party government. During interregnums she visited Europe and worked untiringly to attract Muslim women to the PML platform and raised voice for the cause of the Kashmiri and Palestinian peoples. In 1999 she joined PML (Q) and played an extremely vital role in uniting scattered party workers to energizing the referendum of President General Pervez Musharraf.

Her sacrifices and selfless struggle for the party did not go unnoticed at any stage. She was duly encouraged and rewarded with high profile party positions, which she successfully managed. During the course of this journey she has held important party position like Vice President Punjab PML (Q) (2000-01), Vice President Punjab PML (1995-97) and Vice President Lahore Muslim League (1992-94) culminating in the office of Vice President, women wing and member Punjab Muslim League General Council.

During the last ten years she has held other important assignment such as member, Punjab Social Welfare Board, Member, Baitul Mal Punjab and Chairman, Zakat Committee, Lahore Cantt.

After her election as Senator from Punjab in 2003, on seats reserved for women, she embarked on yet another journey, raising women issues and problems related to the have not, on the Senate floor. She is currently member of 4 important Committees which include Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Kashmir Affairs and Northern Affairs, Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control and Functional Committee on Government Assurances. She is also a Member of the advisory Committee of the Railway Board. There is no doubt that she will make her presence felt in all these forms.

Mrs. Gulshan Saeed besides being a political worker also spares time to participate in social work targeted at raising the status of women and down trodden folk of Pakistan. In 1980 she started an NGO under the banner of ROSHAN PAKISTAN, which she nurtures and finances out of her own resources. She is constantly endeavouring to liberate women economically, so as to lift their social standing in the society. She is striving hard to encourage women of poor families to educate their children and has in this regard made provision for free education of poor children so that they are not constrained to leave home to earn bread and butter for the family. She has plans to open vocational centers for women and establish free dispensaries and primary schools in the poor and slum areas of the Country.
